I have maintained and bred helodermatid lizards in captivity for over twenty years. I have successfully reproduced three (3) species of Beaded Lizards (Heloderma alvarezi, H. exasperatum, and H. horridum) and the Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum). At our facility, we currently maintain a colony of nearly 200 individuals of all four species of these lizards. I will discuss numerous aspects of care that has led to our long-term success in reproducing these fascinating lizards.
